At United Airlines, they understand that their actions can have a major impact on the environment, so they are leading the way in reducing their environmental footprint in the sky, on the ground and in their facilities. And they are inviting you to participate.

Since 1994, United has improved their aircraft fuel efficiency by 33 percent and they’ve worked to reduce their energy input and waste generation through their Eco-Skies program, a four-pillar commitment to the environment built on fuel efficiency and carbon management, sustainable travel products and services, alternative fuels, and partnering with other organizations on sustainability initiatives.

United also offers their customers ways to be a part of traveling sustainably. Through their CarbonChoice offset program, United lets passengers and businesses reduce their carbon footprint by buying carbon credits for their flight, which represent a predefined reduction amount in greenhouse gasses.

United Airlines is proving once again that they are committed to operating sustainably by partnering with Relan to create upcycled products - string backpacks, messenger bags, and luggage tags - out of banners and billboards they no longer needed and would have otherwise gone into a landfill. Relan is excited to support United Airlines in their effort to operate as an environmentally responsible airline, and now you can too!

Before the banners were transformed into string backpacks, they looked like this:

And now they are ready for you to buy!

By United Airlines repurposing the materials that were previously going into a landfill, they have shown their commitment to operating in a way that minimizes their environmental impact. You can support this effort by purchasing made in the USA, repurposed bags or luggage tags instead of buying products made from virgin materials. If you've purchased one of these items, let us know by posting a picture on social media with the hashtag #EcoSkies #RelanSpotted

Have you thought about your company’s carbon footprint? Big or small, Relan can help you make a commitment to operating responsibly and sustainably.
